The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued a warning for Tamil Nadu, forecasting heavy rainfall across multiple districts until December 14.
According to IMD, Cyclone 'Fengal' over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards earlier and is expected to cross north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts later in the day.
The urban areas in Thoothukudi such as Rajagopal Nagar, Pushpa Nagar, Raju Nagar, Postal Telegram Colony and other parts of the city have been experiencing waterlogging.
"Today's flood in Madurai is due to natural causes or negligence of the DMK government. This is due to the negligence of the government, Madurai has become an island with water logging up to the waist level after one day of rain," said RB Udhayakumar.
