Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 22 (ANI): Residents of the Kendirya Vihar apartment complex in Yelahanka were evacuated with the help of boats after rainwater entered the apartment complex.
The heavy rain in the city has caused severe waterlogging causing problems for the residents.
An NDRF official said that information was received that 2,000 to 3,000 people were stuck in one apartment complex while there were 200 to 300 more people stuck in another part of the complex.

"We had received information that 2,000 to 3,000 people were stuck in the apartments. Three teams are working here and we have relieved one team to go to another place where another 200-300 people have been stranded. Around 50 NDRF officials carried out the rescue operations here. We have rescued the people here successfully. The water levels have also decreased as of now. We will work according to the situation," the NDRF official said.
A resident of Kendriya Vihar Apartment said that a permanent solution to the problem was the need of the hour.
"We have been suffering since the last two weeks. I have small children and we need a permanent solution to the problem," the resident said.
"For the last two weeks, we have been facing problems. We are glad we got rescued. However, the rescue has only been made on an emergency basis, we are still waiting for a permanent solution to the problem," said another resident.
Earlier today, the Janata Dal Secular attacked the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for their so-called 'visionary' governance after residents faced issues due to the waterlogging.
Taking to X, JDS in a post wrote "Welcome to *Brand Bengaluru*! Where a physically challenged woman falling into a pothole during heavy rains is just another day in paradise. While@siddaramaiah&@DKShivakumarkeep patting themselves on the back for their 'visionary' governance, the city's crumbling infrastructure is doing all the talking. BBMP's mastery in turning roads into death traps is unmatched. *Bravo* on setting new standards of neglect and irresponsibility."
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in South Interior and coastal Karnataka from October 23 to October 26. (ANI)
