Voting for the first elections of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), after the delimitation exercise, began on Sunday morning amid tight security in a total of 250 wards.
As the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections winded up, the Bharatiya Janata Party State unit president on Sunday forecasted the party's win by saying that BJP will be recording the maximum seats, and voting percentage in the Gujarat Assembly polls.
The BJP, which has governed the civic body in Delhi since 2007, is looking to maintain its winning streak while the Aam Aadmi Party, which has a majority in the Assembly, is looking to make inroads in the first municipal election in the capital after the delimitation of wards.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday claimed that the party would get a majority in the Gujarat Assembly elections, a day after the conclusion of the first phase of polls.
