The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken notice of the reports of alleged buying of votes in Lahore's NA-127 constituency and directed relevant officials to form a committee to probe the matter, Dawn reported.
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and other party leaders, held a protest against the BJP over the Chandigarh mayoral elections.
"Stolen votes in the first Chandigarh Mayor election. Now the people coming to protest peacefully against this are being stopped at various places across Delhi." CM Arvind Kejriwal posted on X.
High drama was witnessed in the Chandigarh Mayoral poll results after the presiding officer declared eight votes of Congress and AAP councillors invalid, resulting in the victory of the BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar in the mayoral elections.
The BJP's Manoj Sonkar was declared the Mayor of Chandigarh on Tuesday after he won the mayoral polls with 16 votes against the 12 votes bagged by Congress-AAP candidate Kuldeep Tita. Eight votes were declared null and void.
Taking a dig at BJP, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Choudhury on Tuesday said that with the date of the Lok Sabha elections are nearing, topics such as the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the NRC are being brought into the market with great effect to create polarisation of votes.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajinder Kumar was elected as Deputy Mayor, after AAP and Congress councillors refused to cast votes in the election of Deputy Mayor and Senior Deputy Mayor.
"We have fought against the NRC. Rajbanshis are citizens of India. They have again started shouting CAA, CAA for the sake of votes," Mamata Banerjee said.
While speaking to ANI, the Telangana BJP State President said, "AIMIM is cheating the people for votes and not doing any development work. Earlier, AIMIM was working with the BRS and cheating the people. Now it is working with Congress and cheating the people of Hyderabad."
