"Tight slap..." JMM's Mithilesh Kumar Thakur after Champai Soren govt wins Trust Vote with 47 votes in favour

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], February 5 (ANI): As Champai Soren-led JMM, Congress, RJD alliance government ultimately sailed through the Trust Vote with 47 votes being cast in its support, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Mithilesh Kumar Thakur has dubbed the development as a 'tight slap on the faces of those who are adamant on murdering democracy'.
Speaking to ANI after the Champai Soren government in Jharkhand won the trust vote, Thakur said that the conspiracy to topple the government or to poach MLAs will not succeed in the democracy.
"...This is a tight slap on the faces of those who are adamant on murdering democracy and shredding Constitution. Democracy is still alive and such conspiracies won't succeed," he said.
In veiled attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the JMM MLA said that the party has been sent a message to the Opposition forces, who are hell-bent on spliting the ruling alliance, that it will 'never get succeeded' in Jharkhand.
"They want to suppress tribals, but they will never succeed...They have been told that they will never succeed in this state, however hard they may try..." he added.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren won the trust vote in the state assembly on Monday.
While 47 MLAs voted in favour of the trust motion, 9 legislators opposed it in the 81-member assembly. Independent legislator Saryu Roy didn't participate in the voting process. Seventy-seven MLAs were present in the assembly during the voting.
Champai Soren, a minister in Hemant Soren's government, was elected as the leader of the legislative party on Wednesday last week. He took oath as the chief minister of the state on Friday.
Hemant Soren was arrested in connection with a money-laundering probe. He resigned as the chief minister of Jharkhand before his arrest.
Hemant, while speaking in the Assembly on Monday alleged that the Raj Bhawan was involved in his arrest carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case.
He also challenged the BJP to prove the corruption charges against him, asserting that if the accusations are proven, he will leave Jharkhand.
"Leave retirement from politics, I will leave Jharkhand if BJP comes to the Vidhan Sabha with records of my ownership of 8 acres of land. I have no sadness that they took my membership. But please know that we will give them a befitting reply, politically, legally or otherwise," he said. (ANI)
