On the arrival of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ludhiana, members of the 1984 Sikh Massacre Riot Victims Society, raised slogans and burnt an effigy of Rahul Gandhi at the Ghantaghar Chowk.
The protesters alleged that the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib was on the orders of
"A pillar fell on the road and a woman and her child were badly injured and died. It is very unfortunate. Will provide Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of the victims," the MD said.
Officials said that the accused, identified as Anas, was arrested by Kanpur police and sent to jail two years ago after a girl filed a molestation case against him.
Dr Sugata Bhattacharjee, who was the co-passenger of the victim, had personally requested the crew to provide her with a seat in a separate category, but was denied on the ground that the Pilot-in-Command was resting
Deepanshu Bansal, the advocate representing the woman coach who accused Singh of sexual harassment, on Sunday said: "They should arrest Sandeep Singh as early as possible."
Officials said that the victim, in a complaint to the police, accused the ASI of having a physical relationship with her on the pretext of false promises.
The coordination committees have been formed to provide help in relief and rescue of the people affected by the landslide. During his inspection of Joshimath landslide area, the Chief Minister also met the victims.
