The Chief Minister has directed all the district magistrates of the state to remain in alert mode at all times while coordinating with SDRF, NDRF and other rescue teams, said the release.
The road near Paagalnala in the Joshimath area on the Badrinath National Highway is blocked due to debris after the landslide on Thursday. A video released by the Uttarakhand Police showed that the roads were blocked due to debris after the landslide in the area.
The Chief Minister has directed both the District Magistrates to deploy the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in the affected areas and carry out relief work expeditiously.
"Heavy to very heavy rainfall at many places, with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places, is likely to occur in districts of the Kumaon region. Heavy rains have also been forecast in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand," said the weather department.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting with the Kumaon Commissioner, connected virtually from his camp office, and inquired about the situation at various places in the state after heavy rains.
"NH94 Rishikesh-Chamba is closed at Bagaddhar. Work is in progress to clear the boulders", said Brijesh Bhatt, Tehri District Disaster Officer while speaking to ANI.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescued as many as sixty people trapped in their houses after heavy rainfall caused waterlogging and disrupted normal life in the state's Udham Singh Nagar, said officials on Wednesday.
Pauri's SSP Shweta Choubey appealed to people to get information about the weather and routes before travelling. She said that due to heavy rains, the river drains in the district were in spate.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday reached the State Emergency Operation Center located at the Secretariat to review the situation in view of the two-day red alert warning in seven districts by the Meteorological Department.
Amid incessant rainfall in parts of Uttarakhand, a portion of the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway-58 between Purusadi in Chamoli district was damaged on Tuesday.
