The police seized a large quantity of contraband rugs worth around Rs 8 crore in Assam's Karbi Anglong district and arrested two persons on Saturday, police have said.
The efforts of the police led to the busting of an IPL Cricket gambling racket during an ongoing IPL cricket match in the area of Nihal Vihar. The police arrested two accused persons and recovered one laptop, two mobile phones and one LED TV.
Detailing the incident, the police said, "A PCR call was received at around 00:15 AM on April 3 at Samaypur Badli Police Station infroming that a woman has been allegedly shot by her neighbour when she asked him to stop the DJ."
It has to be noted that Sanjay Kumar Tiwari is accused in the ED case pertaining to a mid-day meal scam involving over Rs 100 crores.
He used a false covid report to avoid appearing before the court.
A team of Special Cell, South-Western Range (SWR) of Delhi Police arrested two persons on March 24 for trying to extort Rs 50 lakh from a businessman, said police.
Acting on a tip-off, police have intercepted a truck on National Highway-53 under Saraipali police station limits and recovered cannabis weighing around 1050 kilograms, said Mahasamund Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharmendra Singh.
The racket was unearthed following a raid by a special staff team of East Delhi and Preet Vihar police station who conducted the raid following secret information.
"During the search, two live pangolins weighing 13kg and 10kg respectively along with other incriminating materials were recovered and the accused were arrested after they could not prove any authority in support of the possession of the endangered species," added IG Pankaj.
The Telangana Police have arrested two main accused from Karimnagar in Telangana after they were involved in the kidnapping of two minor girls on March 11 from Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh.
