Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kalyan Banerjee on Friday attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of doing "politics" instead of taking appropriate steps.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Thursday attacked West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over Murshidabad violence and said that the TMC chief is trying to provoke people in the state.
It stated that central forces will remain in Murshidabad for some time to maintain law and order and said that the court will monitor the restoration and rehabilitation of victims and ordered officials from BJP, TMC, and others not to make provocative speeches that could escalate tensions.
TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee addressed the situation in Murshidabad on Thursday, defending the state administration and accusing the opposition of spreading misinformation and inciting unrest.
Suvendu Adhikari, has filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court demanding that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) be assigned to probe the recent violence in Murshidabad district.
"Suvendu Adhikari gives provocative statements. He is giving these statements in the name of religion after being rejected by the public," Ghosh said. "The main issue in West Bengal is development. Let me say clearly -- the TMC will form the government for the fourth time with a majority,
The West Bengal Assembly's Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders of orchestrating communal violence in Murshidabad district.
"I want to raise some big questions for Mamata Banerjee. First, if women are being given a place in the Waqf Board, in the centre, and all the states, do you have a problem with that? Second, if backward Muslims are getting representation in the Waqf Board, do you have a problem with that?"
Unrest broke out in Murshidabad during protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act on April 11. The law has been a contentious issue in the region. The protests turned violent, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to several others, with widespread property damage.
