Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan on Thursday received stranded Indians from Port Sudan at Jeddah under Operation Kaveri, an operation India launched to evacuate its citizens from battle-torn Sudan.
Vinay Mohan Kwatra said that the Indian government and embassy's focus has been to advise stranded Indian nationals to remain safe and help them move to secure locations whenever feasible.
"#OperationKaveri INS Teg departs from Port Sudan with 297 passengers. This is the fifth batch of stranded Indians enroute to Jeddah," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.
"#OperationKaveri continues. 4th batch of stranded Indians departs from Port Sudan for Jeddah. IAF C-130J takes off with 136 passengers on board," Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted.
The Indian Air Force very recently rescued another batch of around 250 trapped Indians from conflict-torn Sudan as part of the rescue effort. More than 250 people were evacuated from Port Sudan by two IAF C-130 J planes. Prior to this, 135 more stranded Indians were rescued from Sudan on Wed

"The second batch of 121 stranded Indians leaves Port Sudan for Jeddah onboard IAF C-130J aircraft," the Ministry of External Affairs tweeted informing that another sortie is soon to follow.
Indians stranded in Sudan have departed the conflict-torn country in the first phase of 'Operation Kaveri', the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the central government had launched 'Operation Kaveri' to bring back stranded Indians from conflict-ridden Sudan.
