The Gujarat State Government has decided to extend the celebrations of 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv' until January 15 at Somnath, in light of public sentiments and demands.

He said that India was rapidly advancing towards becoming the world's third-largest economy and termed Saurashtra and the Kutch region a major centre for driving momentum for the Aatmanirbhar Bharat campaign.

"Religious invasion was labelled as loot. We have been taught in our textbooks that the Somnath Temple was demolished to loot its treasures. The cruel history of hate, atrocities and terror was hidden from us," PM Modi said.
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Sunday accused the Congress Party of boycotting the Somnath Swabhiman Parv, calling it a continuation of the party's longstanding "appeasement politics."
Addressing a gathering after the Shaurya Yatra concluded here, PM Modi paid tribute to the ancestors of those present, saying they, like generations before, risked their lives for their faith, their beliefs, and for Lord Mahadev.
