"Two cross-border narco smugglers have been arrested by Srinagar Police. The police have seized 11.08 Kg Heroin, worth Rs 70 crore in the international market and a total cash amount of Rs 11,82,500 from their possession", said, AGDP Kumar.

According to the police, based on secret information, a team of Karimganj district police led by Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das launched an operation and intercepted a truck bearing registration number TR-02D-1691 at Karimganj bypass road.

The operation involved interception at multiple locations across the state where the customs officials got hold of carriers of smuggled gold who were travelling in different modes of public transport.
Replying to a question from All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Nazrul Hoque in the state assembly, the Assam CM said, "1,181 cases related to cross-border crimes have been registered last year in the state."
