Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday described Sharad Pawar's resignation as NCP chief as a "big event" in the country and Maharashtra's politics.
"I have resigned from my post of National General Secretary and I have sent my resignation to Sharad Pawar Saheb. All office bearers of Thane NCP have also resigned after Pawar Saheb's announcement", Jitendra Awhad told ANI.

Hours after veteran leader Sharad Pawar announced his decision of stepping down as the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), scores of party workers on Tuesday hit the streets in Mumbai and protested against the decision.
After Sharad Pawar stepped down as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief on Tuesday, nephew Ajit Pawar said the NCP veteran would take two to three days to rethink his decision.

This comes after NCP supremo Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said that the Maharashtra government should hold a dialogue with the local villagers who are opposing the project.
While talking to ANI, the Janata Dal (Secular) leader said, "No reaction on anybody's assessment. It is their assessment. Let them enjoy till the mandate of the people is declared. Just wait and watch how things move in Karnataka."
