Ambalavana Desiga Paramachariya Swamigal, Thiruvavaduthurai Aadheenam on Friday said that it is a "matter of pride" for Tamil Nadu that 'Sengol', a symbol of justice, will be installed in the new Parliament building adding that "some people are spreading lies".
"This is an issue of sidelining the President of India, who is also the first tribal woman President. Why don't they answer this question?" the Congress General Secretary told ANI.
"I would like all our friends who are opposing the inauguration of the new Parliament building, to read this article and get some idea about the symbolism of 'Sengol' and what happened in 1947," Hardeep Puri said.
"Why does the Congress party hate Indian traditions and culture so much? A sacred Sengol was given to Pandit Nehru by a holy Saivite Mutt from Tamil Nadu to symbolize India's freedom but it was banished to a museum as a 'walking stick'," Tweeted Shah.
The historic sceptre, 'Sengol', which was kept in Allahabad Museum has been moved to the national capital ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building.
"PM Modi is a leader who got global appreciation. He is doing good things for people. Again in 2024 he has to become PM and should guide people. We are all so proud as world leaders are appreciating our PM Modi," he said while talking to ANI.

The 'Sengol' which will be placed in the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28 will symbolise justice, renowned Indian classical dancer Padma Subrahmanyam who wrote to Prime Minister's Office said on Thursday.
