As part of the observance of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Mizoram Police on Wednesday carried out a large-scale disposal of seized drugs worth more than Rs 154 crore in various districts of the state.

The Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIR) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized gold from a passenger at Trichy airport in Tamil Nadu, said an official from the Customs Department on Monday.

Assam police seized a large quantity of ganja worth Rs 1.5 crore from a truck in Karimganj district. One person identified as Amit Kumar has been apprehended.

According to an official release, "The sleuths of Meerpet Police and Rachakonda Commissionerate nabbed the chain snatcher on Thursday and seized gold ornaments and a bike, altogether worth Rs 1.6 lakh."
