The air customs at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Saturday seized gold worth Rs 2.73 crores and arrested one Russian and a Tajik national in this case, an official statement said.
"AirCustoms@IGIA have booked 3 separate cases of smuggling after 6522 gms of gold concealed by 5 pax in their clothes & rectum were recovered and seized. Value of seized gold is Rs. 3.43 Cr Further investigations are on," the Delhi Customs (Airport and General) posted on X.
Cochin Customs on Tuesday seized gold weighing 529.39 grammes from a lady passenger who was coming from Bahrain, said officials.The officials added that some of the seized gold was in paste form, which she concealed under the inner sole of her shoes.
According to officials, the seized gold, which was concealed by the passenger in the waistband of his pant and a specially stitched pocket of his undergarment, was in paste form.

Customs officials on Tuesday seized gold weighing 554.600 grammes from a passenger at Cochin International Airport. The passenger was concealing the gold inside his rectum, the officials said.
"The seized gold weighs approximately 1165 grams and 705 milligrams, with an estimated value of Rs 70,44,325. The disposal of seized gold has been done as per procedure, the BSF release said.
