Mumbai customs arrested four people for smuggling and seized gold over 6.815 Kg valued at Rs 4.44 crore and diamond worth Rs 2.02 in three days, said officials.
Officials said the the gold was seized in various forms like gold in wax, rhodium plated wires and buckle, washer shaped rings and crude gold jewellery (pendant, payal etc).
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) informed on Wednesday that it had seized gold jewellery weighing 1,672.8 grams worth Rs 12.5 lakh in a case against Muhammed Hafeez, a close friend of the general secretary of Karnataka Youth Congress.

Cochin Customs arrested two and recovered gold worth 67.29 lakhs in two separate cases on Tuesday. In the first case, Cochin Customs arrested one and seized gold worth Rs 40.67 lakhs from a family who came from Sharjah.
According to officials, the seized gold is valued at Rs 98 lakh, and it was brought by a passenger who had arrived from the capital city of Qatar, Doha.
