Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his gratitude to the people of Delhi for delivering a decisive mandate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Delhi Assembly.
"After almost 27 years, the people of Delhi have given their trust and blessings to BJP. For this, I express my gratitude to the people of Delhi," he posted on X.
In Malviya Nagar, BJP's Satish Upadhyay won by 2,131 votes against AAP's Somnath Bharti. Upadhyay has secured 39,564 votes, while Bharti has received 37,433 votes, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI)
Speaking to ANI, CM Dhami said, "People have shown faith in Modi's guarantee because PM Modi does what he says. People prefer double-engine governments because we are continuously carrying out holistic development. I saw the anger of Delhi people against Kejriwal during the election campaign
Sirsa also represented the constituency in the 2017 Delhi by-elections. However, in the 2020 Delhi Assembly polls, Manjinder Sirsa lost Rajouri Garden seat to AAP's same candidate, Chandela.
