Congress leader Randeep Surjewala on Tuesday slammed the BJP following the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, stating that the party has a track record of "weakening both constitutional offices and processes".
"This cannot be believed...I don't think it's due to health reasons...Yesterday, the entire proceedings of the house were controlled and chaired by him...Health reasons alone cannot be the sole reason for resignation. Maybe some other political reason or other," Premachandran told ANI.
"The Vice President has resigned due to health reasons. I wish Jagdeep Dhankhar ji, the very best of health and wish him a long life," said Surya while speaking to the media.

As Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned as the Vice President of India, the residents of his native village, Kithana in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu, expressed "shock" over the decision and said his health has deteriorated.

The chair announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs has, wide its notification, conveyed the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar under 67A of the Constitution with immediate effect.
The Rajya Sabha also announced the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar in the House on Tuesday, shortly before adjourning till 2 pm amid opposition sloganeering.
