The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Thursday said a total of 13 bodies, among 21 people who went missing after a massive landslide struck the Summer Hill area of Shimla earlier this week, have been recovered.
Talking to reporters in Shimla, Chief Minister Sukhu said that he was on his way to Kangra. "I am on the way to Kangra. We have evacuated over 650 people there. Around 100 people are still trapped in Kangra, rescue operation is underway. Another body has been recovered in Shimla.”
Expressing grief over the massive landslides and cloudbursts in Himachal Pradesh, Singh said, “The Prime Minister should declare Himachal Pradesh a disaster-hit state and should start restoration work here.”
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday informed that over 50 people have lost their lives within the past 24 hours due to landslides and continuous rainfall in the area. He also expressed concerns that over 20 people are feared to be trapped under debris.
