Voicing discontent with the Karnataka Government's decision to change the name of Ramanagara district to Bengaluru, BJP MP from Karnataka Iranna Kadadi labelled it as a "political game" of the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister.
State Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil, speaking on Friday, cited the aspirations and demands of the people and their representatives as the driving force behind the decision to merge Ramanagara district to Bengaluru South.
The Karnataka cabinet on Friday approved the renaming of Ramanagara district to Bengaluru South, a decision followed by an announcement made by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
President Droupadi Murmu announced that two of the important halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan, namely, Durbar Hall and Ashok Hall, have been renamed as Ganatantra Mandap and Ashok Mandap, respectively.
"A lot of work has happened here. Seeing this, everyone has made up their minds in Arunachal that they will be voting for the BJP this time as well. This is confirmed. Polling is only a formality. People have already decided whom they will vote for," the Chief Minister said on Tuesday.
Reacting to China renaming 30 places in Arunachal Pradesh, Union Minister VK Singh on Saturday said that changing names won't have any effect, adding that Arunachal Pradesh will always be India's part.
