The London-bound flight, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, carrying 242 people, including 12 crew members, crashed shortly after it took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport this afternoon, and rammed into a doctors' hostel in the Meghani Nagar area in Ahmedabad.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu arrived at the site of the Air India plane crash near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday to take stock of the situation.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Central government, strongly defended the decision to revoke Celebi Airport Services Private Limited's security clearance, citing national security concerns.
At the same time, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is fully committed to ensuring that passenger convenience, cargo operations, and service continuity remain unaffected. Arrangements have been made at all affected airports to ensure seamless handling of passengers and cargo, the release stated
