Following heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Michaung in the past two days, Andhra Pradesh CPM State Secretary Srinivasa Rao on Thursday flagged concerns over a lack of proper drainage system in the state.
Amid flood-like situation in Tamil Nadu's Chennai due to heavy rainfall caused due to Cyclone Michaung, more than 700 people were shifted to safer locations by the flood relief teams of Indian Navy.
"The cyclonic circulation Michaung has weakened and converted into a low-pressure area in Jharkhand causing light to moderate rainfall across the state in short spells. The situation will remain prevalent till today. The weather will remain cloudy tomorrow onwards," AE Kujur, a meteorologist
Several areas in Chennai continued to reel under severe waterlogging conditions on Thursday caused due to heavy rainfall in the region following Cyclone Michaung's landfall.
India Meteorological Department Director General Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra on Wednesday said that the cyclonic storm Michaung weakened and won't have any disastrous impact.
"The floodwaters in Chennai's suburbs are still inundated. Many people are working in the field to ensure that everyone gets basic necessities like food and milk. We are continuing our field work with the hope that the situation will improve soon!" MK Stalin posted on X.
