Congress MP Manish Tewari stated that the Railway Minister should take moral responsibility and resign after 18 people were killed at a stampede which broke out at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday evening.
"It is the misfortune of the country that there is no full-time Railway Minister for the fourth largest rail network in the world," Kakkar, the chief national spokesperson of AAP, posted on X.
The RJD chief told ANI on Sunday, "The incident is very unfortunate and I offer my condolences to the victims. This is a mismanagement by the Railway that led to the loss of so many lives. The Railway Minister should take responsibility."
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O'Brien on Sunday took a dig at Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, citing his colleague Abhishek Banerjee's speech in Lok Sabha, where the latter accused Vaishnaw of "juggling" between three ministries.
"The Railway Minister should have resigned; we are not saying this on a political front, but as humanity, he should come forward and say that he is not able to stop the incidents."
"The common Indian cannot be left at the mercy of such a Railway Minister who calls the death of people a 'minor incident' and hides the death toll instead of expressing sympathy for the victims," Shrinate added.
Congress leader BK Hariprasad on Sunday criticised Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the stampede at New Delhi Railway station, stating that the railways are in a state of "doldrums."
Speaking to ANI, BJP MP Yogender Chandoliya said, "It is an unfortunate incident... The Railway Minister has ordered a probe, and the cause of the incident will be identified once the investigation is over..."
Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Union Railway Minister and RJD Chief, on Sunday, said that the Railway's mismanagement led to the stampede at the New Delhi railway station that claimed the lives of at least 18 people.
Shah discussed the incident with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, and the Delhi Police and gave directions to provide all possible help to those affected.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday said that a chaotic situation at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) had been brought under control after a huge rush injured 15 people.
