New Delhi [India], February 16 (ANI): BJP MP Yogender Chandoliya on Sunday expressed grief over the loss of lives in a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station and also urged leaders to avoid doing politics over a tragedy like this.
He said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered a probe in the matter and the cause of the incident will be find out.
Speaking to ANI, BJP MP Yogender Chandoliya said, "It is an unfortunate incident... The Railway Minister has ordered a probe, and the cause of the incident will be identified once the investigation is over."

He added, "The Prime Minister of India is deeply concerned about the incident that occurred at New Delhi Railway Station. The Railway Minister has ordered a thorough investigation, and anyone found guilty will be held accountable and punished."
A tragic stampede occurred at New Delhi Railway Station, resulting in the loss of 18 lives on Saturday. The incident happened around 10 pm when thousands of devotees were heading to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh 2025 festival, causing severe overcrowding at the station.
"I don't think anyone should use situations like these for political gain. Rahul Gandhi's statement seems to be influenced by politics, but as the leader of the opposition, his words will be taken seriously. I also request Kharge ji, as a senior Congress leader, to avoid making politics out of such situations. We should focus on the issue, not use it for political reasons," Chandoliya said.
Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over the incident, and slammed BJP, saying the incident highlights the "failure of the Railways" and the "insensitivity of the government."
Taking to social media X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "The news of several people dying and many getting injured due to the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station is extremely sad and distressing. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured. This incident once again highlights the failure of the Railways and the insensitivity of the government."

Considering the large number of devotees going to Prayagraj, better arrangements should have been made at the station. The government and administration should ensure that no one has to lose their life due to mismanagement and negligence," Gandhi said.
BJP MP Yogender Chandoliya said, "We can't control people's beliefs, but we can manage the situation. When so many people are involved, it's natural that things may go wrong. It's sad when political leaders, whether it's Atishi, Rahul Gandhi, or Kharge, play politics in such times".
A compensation of Rs 10 lakh by the Indian Railways was announced to the families of the deceased who lost their lives in the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station, as per a release.
Additionally, a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh has been announced to the seriously injured and Rs 1 lakh to those with minor injuries, as per the release.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Railway, KPS Malhotra, the incident occurred when a large number of passengers gathered on platform no. 14, where the Prayagraj Express was stationed.
Additionally, delays in the departures of the Swatantrata Senani Express and Bhubaneswar Rajdhani led to further congestion at platforms 12, 13, and 14. (ANI)
