In a move that will further strengthen India’s relationship with the East Asian region, Indian Navy chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will be handing over the indigenous missile corvette to Vietnam on Saturday.
The Indian Navy has started an outreach program in the Union Territory Ladakh to get more recruits from this area in the Indian Navy for which the Navy chief reached here after a 14-hour road drive.
Indian defence forces are planning to integrate made-in-India missiles on Predator drones, which are being acquired from the US under a foreign military sales deal.
"Indian Navy has been operating these drones. They fall in the category of the HALE, (high altitude long endurance drones). So, we realised there is a need for having these drones for better surveillance and increased maritime domain awareness," the Navy Chief said.
For the first time, Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will visit Ladakh in the first week of July to urge youth from the Union Territory to join the maritime force.
Amid the questions being raised over the capabilities of the proposed Predator drone deal with the US, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar on Wednesday said the drone has got long endurance and can stay in the air for 33 hours.
