Purulia MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato spoke to ANI about the incident and said, "I demand that an FIR on murder charges be registered against those responsible. This has happened due to negligence by the administration."

Notably, a video went viral on Friday that showed a group of seers being purportedly stripped and assaulted by a mob in the Purulia district of West Bengal.
"A case has been initiated on the complaint by the Sadhus. 12 people have been arrested so far and an investigation is underway. We have taken some people into police custody for further investigation," Purulia SP Avijit Banerjee said.
