The India Meteorological Department has issued isolated heavy rainfall alert for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
"Light thunderstorms and lightning with light to moderate rain are very likely in isolated places over Cuddalore, Villipuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Puducherry and Karaikal districts of Tamil Nadu," said the Met Department.
"Due to westerly wind and heat wave on June 11 Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. From June 12 to June 14 Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Light to moderate rain at a few places with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area, said Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai on Tuesday.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy has announced a two-day holiday for all the educational institutions in Puducherry and Karaikal region in the wake of heavy rainfall on Friday.
