The Pakistani pilgrims were travelling to Riyadh from Medina after performing Umrah when they met with an unfortunate accident near the Al-Qasim area, as per ARY News.
With the Char Dham Yatra set to start in Uttarakhand after three days, Dr R. Rajesh Kumar, secretary, state health department, has issued a health advisory for pilgrims.
Pakistan had issued 2,856 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India for their participation in annual festivals relating to Baisakhi celebrations in Pakistan from April 9 to 18.
The Chamoli district administration in Uttarakhand will take stringent action against eateries that overcharge pilgrims during Chardham Yatra. District Magistrate of Chamoli Himanshu Khurana has constituted a committee and issued orders for regular inspections of eateries.
The government is engaged in preparations to facilitate the journey of pilgrims coming from the country and the world during the Char Dham yatra, it said.
The preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand are in the final stages with the registration of the pilgrims coming on the pilgrimage to be verified, said the officials.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, Basharat Qayoom on Wednesday paid a visit to Yatra Transit Camps FCI Godown Mir Bazaar and Walnut Factory Qazigund and took comprehensive stock of arrangements and facilities to be made available for pilgrims of Yatra-2023.
As per the details, the Sikh pilgrims will participate in the main event at Gurdwara Panja Sahib Hasan Abdal on April 14. During the visit, the pilgrims will visit Dera Sahib, Panja Sahib, Nankana Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib.
"We received visas for 1052 people. They will also visit Nankana Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib and other Gurdwaras in Pakistan," Partap Singh, Secretary of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee said.
According to the release, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board will operate a dedicated call centre with 15 lines open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM to assist pilgrims.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad Railway Station here reducing the travel time between the two cities by almost three and half hours and particularly benefitting pilgrims of both the Telugu states.
"On the occasion of Baisakhi, Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi has issued 2,856 visas to Sikh pilgrims who will travel from India to participate in the annual festivities in Pakistan from 09-18 April 2023," tweeted Pakistan High Commission, India.
