At least 3 passengers died and over 15 others were injured after the bus they were travelling on plunged into Barkar River in Jharkhand's Giridih on Saturday, officials said.
In a post on the social media platform, Chief Minister Hemant Soren informed that the bus was on its way from Ranchi to Giridih when it met with the accident.
As per The Tribune Express, the passengers, belonging to various parts of Punjab, were returning from a religious festival in Bhurban. The accident happened near the Bastal Mor on the motorway after one of the bus tyres busted midway.
"On spot profiling, Air Customs at IGI Airport arrested a passenger who arrived from Dubai after 991.4 gms gold valued at Rs 51.72 lakhs was extracted from 3 capsules concealed in his rectum and seized under Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations are ongoing," officials informed.
The Lahore-bound bus carrying 70 passengers while departing from Murree overturned on the Murree Expressway. Of them, 28 passengers were injured in the incident and were taken to a nearby hospital. Their identity was however not confirmed.
