Talks between the central government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will be possible only if the former prime minister admits his wrongdoing and apologises to the people for all the things he has done, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, Geo News reported.
This statement came after the letter was sent to PM Shehbaz, urging him to ensure the implementation of the Supreme Court's orders in relation to the general elections in both provinces.
The prime minister in a tweet said: "Disgusting smear campaign of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf against Chief of the Army Staff Gen Asim Munir, at the behest of Imran Niazi, deserves the strongest condemnation," the prime minister said in a tweet.
"The campaign against the army chief is intolerable and a continuation of the conspiracy against the institutions," he said in a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Shehbaz Sharif tweeted, "The reports of the drowning of over two dozen Pakistanis in a boat tragedy in Italy are deeply concerning & worrisome. I have directed Foreign Office to ascertain facts as early as possible & take the nation into confidence."
