Women Members of Parliament from the Indian National Congress on Monday wrote a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla alleging that the ruling party forced him to make "false, baseless, and defamatory" claims against them.
Both Houses of Parliament were scheduled to continue discussion on the Union Budget 2026-27 today, which was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1.
Speaking to ANI, Chidambaram said, "Parliament is for debating and following procedure that includes giving space to the Opposition to raise issues of concern to the nation. Opposition parties use various tools to register their protest, and this is a tool to do so."
After the Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary moved the motion to discuss the Union Budget, Opposition MPs continued to demand a discussion on the India-US trade interim framework.
