Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 8 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar on Sunday said all parties shared their views on smooth house proceedings ahead of the UP Assembly Budget Session, starting on Monday.
After attending the all-party meeting in Lucknow, he urged opposition parties cooperate for effective governance. Speaking to ANI, he divulged that discussion time was fixed daily from 5 pm to 8 pm, separate from house time.
Rajbhar emphasised that while all parties provided input on running the house smoothly, the opposition's role is to maintain its own voice; he remarked that if the opposition "sings in tune with the government," it fails to effectively represent the people's concerns.
"Everyone has given their opinion on how the house should run smoothly. If the opposition sings in tune with the government, it cannot reach the people... The time limit of the house is separate; apart from that, discussion time from 5 pm to 8 pm daily has been fixed", he said.
The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly will begin tomorrow. A dedicated discussion window from 5 pm to 8 pm daily has been established to ensure all members have time to voice their opinions beyond the standard house time limit.
The Budget Session is scheduled to run from February 9 to February 20, with the state budget for the 2026-27 financial year to be presented on February 11.
The session is expected to witness discussions on key issues, including the presentation of the state budget.
Speaker Satish Mahana expressed a broader goal to have the House sit for at least 30 days this year, encouraging the opposition to engage in debate rather than disruption. (ANI)
