Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi Marlena, along with Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Wednesday, met with the students protesting over the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants due to flooding in the basement of a coaching institute on July 27 at the Old Rajinder Nagar in Delhi.
A delegation of students from Old Rajinder Nagar met the Municipal Corporation Development (MCD) Commissioner today. The meeting comes in the wake of the protests by UPSC aspirants over the deaths of three civil service aspirants earlier in the month.
Amid protests, Delhi Ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai, Mayor Shelly Oberoi, and AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak today held a meeting with UPSC aspirants following the Old Rajinder Nagar coaching centre incident in which three UPSC aspirants lost their lives.
Union Minister of State and BJP MP Harsh Malhotra on Wednesday blamed the Delhi government's policy for the death of three UPSC aspirants in Old Rajinder Nagar adding that Atishi should resign immediately.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ghanshyam Dhangar said that in the wake of Delhi's incident, the Indore collector had been instructed to carry out inspections of coaching centres in the city and to seal coaching centres or libraries that were being operated in basements.
In the wake of the accident related to the loss of lives due to waterlogging in the basement of Rau's IAS coaching institute located in Old Rajinder Nagar, students held protests for the fulfilment of their demands.
Shima Kathuria, wife of one of the accused, Manuj Kathuria, in the Old Rajinder Nagar coaching centre incident while putting up her husband's innocence, said that there was no rash driving at the time of incident and the video is in front of everyone.
Amid widespread concern over the deaths of three civil services aspirants due to drowning inside a coaching centre in Delhi, Dr Vikas Divyakirti, founder and MD of Drishti IAS, has said that there is no single authority to regulate coaching centres and there is a deficiency in coordination a
"Even if we get the certificate from the fire department, it is mentioned in it that since the building is commercial, the certificate is also for commercial purposes. MCD says that they want an educational certificate," he said.
