New Delhi [India], July 31 (ANI): A delegation of students from Old Rajinder Nagar met the Municipal Corporation Development (MCD) Commissioner today. The meeting comes in the wake of the protests by UPSC aspirants over the deaths of three civil service aspirants earlier in the month.
After the meeting, they said, "The meeting was fruitful. MCD is taking proper action on our demands that come within its purview. We have been assured that proper action will be taken. We will wait and watch."

"But we would like to warn that if it doesn't finish in the set time frame--the compensation amount and all the promises that have been made--we will gherao not just Old Rajinder Nagar but also Vidhan Sabha and other places. But we will wait for all the legal actions, loding of FIR, and other legal procedures to be completed in 10-15 days."
Three students died after the basement of a building housing a coaching centre in Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar was flooded following rains on Saturday evening.
Earlier today, a delegation of students was taken by police bus to the MCD Commission Office for a meeting with officials in Delhi.
Additional Commissioner MCD Tariq Thomas interacted with the protesting students who were on a hunger strike against the deaths of 3 students after the basement of a coaching institute in Old Rajinder Nagar was flooded with rainwater on July 27.
While speaking to the protesting students, Tariq Thomas, Additional Commissioner MCD, said, "It is a failure for all of us and for me personally as well. It is a failure for us as officers that this incident has happened. This should not have happened. We should have done our duty better, there is no excuse."
