US President Joe Biden called Benjamin Netanyahu a "friend for decades" and said he is looking forward to working with the new Israeli government to tackle the challenges in the middle east, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.
Netanyahu, 73 was sworn in as Israel's PM hoping to deliver political stability after multiple five general elections since 2019, The Times of Israel reported.
Netanyahu, 73, took the oath after Israel's parliament, or Knesset, passed a vote of confidence in his new government. Out of the 120 members, 63 voted in favour of the new government, The Times of Israel reported.
The bills, referred to as the "Deri Law" and "Smotrich Laws" have been key demands by the Shas and Religious Zionism parties. Following an all-night Knesset debate, lawmakers passed the bills together by a vote of 63-55.
That means Likud needs to finalize coalition agreements with its right-wing partners, the Shas, United Torah Judaism, Religious Zionism, Otzma Yehudit and Noam parties.
