A woman was strangled to death by Naxalites in Chattisgarh's Bijapur district on the suspicion of being a police informer, police officials said on Saturday.

Inspector General (IG) Bastar, P Sundarraj said, "An encounter is ongoing between DRG (District Reserve Guard) and naxals in southern Sukma. An exchange of fire has been underway since morning. The search operation is underway."
Security forces continued their joint search operation in the jungles of Abujhmad at Kanker in Chhattisgarh's Bastar region for the third consecutive day on Sunday, a day after five Naxals were killed in an encounter in the area.
