Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 3 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Sunday said that efforts of BJP's double-engine government to make Bastar Naxal-free have caused Naxalites to become restless and launch panic-driven attacks.
His remarks came after two jawans were injured in a Naxal attack in Sukma today.
Speaking to ANI, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Sao said, "Ever since our government has been formed in the state, the double engine government is working at double speed towards making Bastar Naxal-free. The way Naxalites have been arrested, killed and surrendered, the Naxalites are restless, nervous and hence they are carrying out such attacks in panic. But the morale of our security forces is very high and certainly in the coming times there will be peace in Bastar and Bastar will move forward towards development."
Earlier today, two jawans of Jagargunda police station were injured in a Naxal attack during a weekly market in Sukma, police said.
"Two jawans of Jagargunda police station got injured in a Naxal attack during a weekly market in Sukma. They are being given first aid. An intensive search operation is being carried out by security forces in the area," Sukma Police said.
Following the attack, security forces launched an intensive search operation in the area to catch the suspects.
Further information is awaited.
Earlier this month, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his happiness after security personnel killed 31 Naxalites in a two-day operation in the Maad area on the Narayanpur-Dantewada border, asserting that Naxalism will 'end and peace will be established' in Chhattisgarh.
Speaking to ANI, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Sai said, "Our forces have achieved great success. 31 Naxals have been killed and this time our soldiers have broken the previous record of 29. Therefore, we congratulate our soldiers, salute their courage and certainly one day Naxalism will end here and peace will be established in Chhattisgarh."
Earlier, the Dantewada police in Chhattisgarh reported that at least 38 Naxal cadres were gunned down in an encounter in the forests of Abujhmad, near the Dantewada-Narayanpur border.
Earlier this year, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that left-wing extremism would be completely eradicated from the country before March 2026. (ANI)
