Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur President A Sharda Devi backed N Biren Singh's decision to resign from the Chief Minister's post, asserting that the decision was made for the peace of the region.
In the wake of resignation of Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh, Deputy Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi claimed that his resignation was aimed to save the BJP government in the state.
"With folded hands and a heart full of devotion, I pray for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of our great nation and the beloved people of Manipur," the CM said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Supreme Court on Monday sought the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) report on the examination of certain leaked audio tapes which allegedly implicate Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh for instigating ethnic violence in the state.
This came after Conrad Sangma-led National People's Party (NPP) in November 2024 withdrew its support from the N Biren Singh-led BJP Government in Manipur with immediate effect amid the ongoing tensions in the state.
