Speaking at a Praja Galam meeting in Guntur, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu emphasised that the TDP has actively fought for Muslim reservations in the state, asserting that it is the party's obligation to fulfil its promises.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement of not giving reservation to Muslims based on religion and said that the Prime Minister has lack of knowledge and is opposing the beliefs of Bihar's former CM Karpoori Thakur
"In Karnataka, Congress tried to include Muslims in 27% OBC reservation...this is the right given by BR Ambedkar's constitution...we will object to this," he added.
In an interview with CNN News 18, the PM said that Congress wants to end reservation and give it to Muslims, saying that the "sword of danger is hanging over reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and other backward class".
Referring to former Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, he said," We have lost our leaders and made sacrifices for the country and still, the BJP blames Congress".
In his address to the public in Satara, the Prime Minister took a swipe at the Congress and said that the party "snatched" the rights and reservations of OBCs in Karnataka and gave them to the Muslims, alleging that the Congress wants to implement the same formula in the entire country.
