Tahawwur Rana, a key conspirator in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, was presented before the Patiala House Court on Friday. Due to security concerns, he was produced a day earlier than the scheduled date from NIA remand. The NIA Special Court has ordered his judicial custody until June 6, 2025.
Security was heightened outside the headquarters of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday where Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana was kept in custody.
He said that LeT and HM have a long history of orchestrating deadly attacks in India, including the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
Kalpana Pawar, wife of police constable Ambadas Pawar, who died bravely in the terrorist attack on Mumbai on 26 November 2008, has been appointed as Probationary Deputy Superintendent of Police, said a press statement.
"Pakistan may try very hard, but its reputation as the epicentre of global terrorism will not diminish," he said during an official press briefing in the national capital.
The US State Department's Hindustani spokesperson, Margaret MacLeod, hailed the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, as a significant example of India-US cooperation against terrorism.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Saturday said that the extradition of 26/11 Mumbai attacks accused Tahawwur Rana to India was possible only because of the UPA Government so there is no need to give "credit" to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Maharashtra Chief Minister on Friday lashed out at Congress leader Digvijay Singh over the latter's controversial remark back in 2010 regarding the 26/11 Mumbai attack and said, "I dont respond to those who speak like idiots."
Calling it a "great victory" for the Modi government, Delhi BJP Legal Cell head Anil Soni said that getting someone extradited from America is not an easy task.
