On Saturday, the suspended TMC MLA, Humayun Kabir, laid the foundation stone for the construction of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, amid widespread criticism from multiple political parties.
Majumdar accused the West Bengal police of fully supporting the act and held West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the laying of the mosque's foundation stone.
He drew attention to the constitutional right to build places of worship and said that he is not doing anything unconstitutional, "as anyone can make a temple or church, so can I".

"We noticed that one of our MLAs from Murshidabad suddenly declared that he would build the Babri Masjid. Why suddenly Babri masjid? We already warned him. As per the decision of our party, TMC, we are suspending MLA Humayun Kabir," the Kolkata mayor said in a press conference here.
Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar flagged security concerns over a mosque located in the operational area of Kolkata Airport, saying its presence has stalled runway expansion and should be relocated in consultation with the Airport Authority of India.
