India Meteorological Department (IMD) Chennai on Saturday issued a thunderstorm warning for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the next three hours from 7 am in the morning.

According to the Indian Meteorological department, thunderstorm and lightning at one or two areas of Tamil Nadu is also expected.

A deep easterly wave prevailing over peninsular India could bring heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the next couple of days, a scientist with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

The cyclonic storm "Midhili" is currently located over the Northeast Bay of Bengal close to the Bangladesh coast and is likely to move north-northeastward and cross the Bangladesh coast near Khepupara with wind speeds of 60-70 kilometres per hour (kmph) gusting to 80 kmph during the evening
The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm 'Midhili' on Friday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
