Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, he said, "Yahan bahut samay se varsha nahi ho rahi thi, aaj unke charan padte hi varsha hone lagi...I hope the relationship between the two countries continues growing."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with the highest civilian award of Mauritius on Wednesday. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi reacted to the development and said that it is a matter of immense pride for all the 140 crore Indians.
In a symbolic gesture of cultural and spiritual connection, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday mixed the sacred waters of the Ganges, brought from the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, into the Ganga Talao (Grand Bassin) at Port Louis in Mauritius.
During the meeting on Tuesday evening, PM Modi expressed gratitude to PM Ramgoolan for Mauritius' decision to confer upon him the 'Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean.'
"Many families from Mauritius attended the Maha Kumbh recently. The world was surprised to see the world's largest gathering attended by 65-66 crore people," PM Modi said.
Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam hosted a state dinner on Tuesday, in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated that he is "immensely proud and honoured" on PM Modi accepting his invitation.
