Strong tremors were felt in Delhi and its surrounding areas at 5.36 am today after a 4.0-magnitude earthquake which jolted the national capital. It originated just 5 km below the earth's surface.
The Director of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), Dr. OP Mishra, on Monday assured the residents that there is nothing to worry about, as the aftershocks of lesser magnitude are "natural" and will heal the earthquake of magnitude 4.0 that had struck Delhi early Monday.
An earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale hit Bihar's Siwan on Monday morning at a depth of 10 km, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
"Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation," PM Modi said.
