A day before the election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a three-line-whip to its MPs to remain present in the House tomorrow from 11 a.m. onwards.
This will be the first time that elections are held for the Speaker of the lower house, as traditionally, the Lok Sabha Speaker and Deputy Speaker have been elected through consensus between the ruling party and the Opposition.
Ahead of the elections for the post of Lok Sabha speaker, the Congress party has issued a three-line whip to its MPs to be present in Parliament tomorrow from 11 a.m. onwards, an official statement by party said.
Speaking to ANI on K Suresh's candidature for Lok Sabha Speaker, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee said, "We were not contacted about this, there was no discussion. Unfortunately, this is a unilateral decision."
