Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested the Assistant Director of the Enforcement Directorate and six other officials for accepting bribes to favour one of the accused in the Delhi liquor scam case.
In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Assam Rifles recovered illegal foreign-origin cigarettes and liquor worth 10.12 Lakh at Zokhawthar in Champhai district on Saturday, said an official statement from Assam Rifles.
The person has been identified as Mukera Madhu, and a case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) and Arms Act.

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to give any interim relief to Manish Sisodia as it listed his plea seeking interim and regular bail plea on week commencing from September 4.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has opposed Manish Sisodia's bail plea and urged the Supreme Court to dismiss it. The CBI told the SC that Manish Sisodia is the kingpin and architect of the conspiracy connected with the liquor policy irregularities case.
"A raid was conducted jointly by the CM flying squad and CID at the residence of Ravi Kumar. After conducting raids, we recovered bottles of country and English liquors", said Pradeep Kumar, Inspector, Excise Department.
The accused were caught on suspicion while they were exchanging goods with each other in front of Visakhapatnam railway station. During a check around 290 bottles of liquor were recovered from their possession, officials said.
