IMD scientist, HR Biswas on Friday said that rainfall activity has occurred in the last 24 hours and due to low pressure in the North-West Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Odisha coast and West Bengal coast its influence is going to cause light to moderate rainfall for the next 24 hours
The regional Meteorological Department in Shimla has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall with thunder likely to occur in parts of Himachal Pradesh.
Amidst heavy rainfall in parts of the country, the India Meterological Department has issued alerts for Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
"Under the influence of this, Telangana is likely to have light to moderate rain over most of the places during the next 4 to 5 days...," said Nagaratna, Director at the Metrological Centre, Hyderabad.
IMD tweeted, "Light to moderate rain with thunder is expected to occur over a few places in Una, Kangra, Hamirpur, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and Mandi districts today, and heavy rainfall is expected in Kullu district."
Even as the national capital witnesses a flood-like situation in several low-lying areas near the Yamuna, IMD said further light to moderate rainfall is likely in Delhi, Haryana and adjoining areas during the next 5 days.
