Maharashtra assembly polls on Wednesday saw celebrities from the film industry stepping out in large numbers to exercise their franchise and, in the process, inspiring other voters to cast their ballot. Polling began at 7 am.
As the high-stakes Assembly elections came to an end, Maharashtra recorded a 62.05 per cent voter turnout, while Jharkhand saw 68.01 per cent, surpassing the 67.04 per cent turnout in the 2019 assembly elections.
"This exercise aims to examine what our coastal defence mechanisms are and also to identify any loopholes or shortcomings which exist so that we can plug them before the next exercise and also before any intrusion takes place via sea," Rear Admiral Dhingra told ANI.
