With Congress poised to name the next Karnataka chief minister after the party's win in the State Assembly elections, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar on Wednesday arrived at party president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence in Delhi after meeting party leader Rahul Gandhi.
Outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said that the ongoing suspense over the chief ministerial face by Congress shows the "internal situation" in the party.
"I met the party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge and discussed the recent developments in Karnataka...Only high command will decide, we are 100 per cent united. Decision maybe by today evening," Khandare told reporters here.
With the suspense over the next Karnataka chief minister after Congress' win in the State assembly elections, veteran leader Siddaramaiah on Wednesday left Sonia Gandhi's residence in the national capital after meeting party leader Rahul Gandhi.
A day after he surprisingly threw his hat in the ring for the post of Karnataka's Chief Minister, Dr G Parameshwara on Wednesday said that there is nothing controversial in selecting the candidate for State's top job.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge has held talks with all stakeholders in the State. Rahul Gandhi met Kharge on Tuesday to discuss government formation in the southern state.
According to party sources the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, a former CM and leader of Opposition, the two main contenders for the chief minister's post will meet with Rahul Gandhi at 10 Janpath.
Hussain was leaving from the party chief Mallikarjun Kharge's residence here in the national capital after a meeting on Tuesday night. He however told reporters that there was no meeting and that his visit was just a "courtesy call".
The sources said DK Shivakumar, who is Karnataka Congress chief, is likely to agree to suggestions made by Sonia Gandhi to help the party solve the leadership issue in the state
